We have scheduled a candidate workshop for one month from today - March 22 from 7-8:30 p.m. at our office at 1500 East Airport Blvd., Sanford.

All candidates, potential candidates, advisors and the public are invited to attend. The workshop will assist candidates with a variety of topics, including:

Last day to register to vote in Florida or change party affiliation for Jan. 31 election is Tuesday, Jan. 3

Elections office to remain open until 7 p.m.

Tuesday, January 3 is the last day to register to vote in Florida (or change party affiliation) in order to be eligible to vote in the January 31 Presidential Preference Primary Election. Given the deadline, the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections office (1500 East Airport Blvd. in Sanford) will once again be open late to give citizens one final chance to register to vote for the election.

Supervisor of Elections Michael Ertel says, "our office is in the opportunity business and therefore are committed to registering as many voters as possible in the county. By making our management staff available for extended hours on the final day to register for the election, we are going the extra mile to give folks a last minute chance to register to vote and be a part of the process." Since management-level employees will be used, the extended hours will not cause any overtime expenses to the office's budget.

In Seminole County, the ballot consists of the Republican Presidential Preference Primary as well as a referendum election for the voters in the city limits of Lake Mary. Based on Florida law, only members of the Republican Party may vote in their party's PPP election. However, any registered voter in Lake Mary city limits may vote on the referendum election. Today the Florida House of Representatives released their proposed redistricting maps for congressional and state house of boundaries. Attached is a file which delineates how the new PROPOSED boundaries set by both the Florida Senate and the Florida House affect Seminole County voters. Of course, these are NOT the final maps.
